The UK-based Manufacturing Technology Centre has underlined its net zero credentials by supporting Australian giant Fortescue Future Industries (FFI) in its goal to produce 15 million tonnes of green hydrogen a year by 2030.
Green hydrogen is increasingly seen as a key contributor to achieving net zero targets for use in industry and transport. Key to this is the rapid establishment of production capability.
Using the core skills of design for manufacture and business and factory optimisation, the Midlands-based MTC is engaged with FFI to support its accelerated growth agenda.
Huw Sullivan, hydrogen leader at the MTC, says he is delighted to be working with FFI to help renewable green hydrogen become globally available and affordable by the end of the decade.
He said, “Supporting the delivery of net zero, including green hydrogen, is core to our vision for future manufacturing and creating clean growth jobs. Through our Liverpool, Midlands and South East UK facilities we are engaging to support the next generation of green manufacturing technologies to ensure clean growth and stimulate investment in the UK supply chain. It is pleasing that now our impact is being recognised globally through engaging with one of the leading champions of green energy, Fortescue Future Industries.”
